Motor Insurance Reforms – Is the consumer now getting a fair deal?

On the back of recent changes introduced by the The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders (Laspo) reforms and the success of the insurance industry in combatting fraud; there has been an expectation that motor insurance premiums would reduce. And whilst this is the case for many, there are some – especially in certain cities - who continue to see the cost of their motor insurance rise. This session will look at why this is the case, and what is left to be done to improve the situation for policyholders.

This session will look at what the implications of these reform will mean – how will the reforms impact consumers? What will the “guidance” look like and what should it offer to consumers? What new products are likely to be emerge as a result of these changes? Is there still a role and need for annuities in the new landscape? with more individuals taking cash from their pension, what are the implications for the wider economy – how will this impact investments in the corporate bond market and other products such as equity release

The Insurance Implications of Cyber Crime

Cyber insurance (i.e. the opportunities and impacts of new technologies on the insurance sector) is rarely discussed in Parliament. Yet the role of Government is arguably significant to help monitor and ensure ongoing UK competitiveness and employment in an increasingly digital driven and smart technology era.

We are entering a new and unfamiliar world of opportunity which may, alongside these ground-breaking developments, require new ground rules. It is a world where huge quantities of data can be collected, processed and used, but also one with new risks and liabilities.

This session will bring parliamentarians and a wide group of well-placed insurance professionals and insurance related technologists and visionaries to discuss the opportunities and implicated implications of next general "cyber-insurance" provision.
