Bridgewater Equity Release, the home reversion specialists, has today (2nd April 2014) announced it will be holding its first post-Mortgage Market Review (MMR) Masterclass in Solihull.

The Solihull event takes place on Tuesday 29th April at the Village Urban Resort Hotel, The Green Business Park, Dog Kennel Lane, Shirley, Solihull B90 4GW. It begins at 9.30am for coffee with presentations starting at 10am. Lunch and networking will follow at 12.30pm.

The Masterclass will be taking place just three days after the introduction of the new MMR rules on the 26th April which means advisers will be working within a new regulatory environment which requires ongoing compliance.

In order to help attendees understand their responsibilities Simon Tranter, Grainger plc’s Risk & Compliance Officer will be looking at the MMR rules, its impact on equity release and focusing on the suitability of advice from a provider’s point of view.

Other presentations include Jeremy Davies, Joint Managing Director of Symponia, looking at the long-term care marketplace and how equity release can play a part in funding client’s needs in this area. Finally, Chris Prior of Bridgewater will look at a variety of adviser issues including how to generate and convert more leads and how best to put in place a strong introducer network.

The Bridgewater Masterclass is free to attend and all equity release advisers are welcome – the event is aimed at those individuals who want to meet the highest standards in the marketplace.

Chris Prior, Manager, Sales and Distribution at Bridgewater Equity Release, commented:

“On April 26th our marketplace undergoes a considerable number of regulatory changes and therefore the first Bridgewater Masterclass post-MMR implementation should be a must attend for all equity release advisers. Recent industry research suggested a considerable number of advisers are not au fait with the MMR rules and what it means for their businesses. They have a limited amount of time to understand this and by the time our Masterclass begins in Solihull on the 29th of this month they should be in a position to continue trading compliantly. The main focus of this session will be the MMR and helping attendees get to grips with the changing environment however we will also be looking at important areas such as long-term care as well as a back to basics session aimed at helping advisers get the most out of the business opportunities that currently exist. We therefore look forward to seeing the equity release community come together to discuss these issues and much more at the end of the month.”
