What is included in this Module?
A detailed analysis of the various annuity products:
· A brief introduction of the differences between DB and DC pension schemes
· Standard annuities
· Enhanced annuities (medical and lifestyle underwritten annuities, what’s the difference)
· Fixed term annuities – when to consider
· Deferring – the pros and cons
· Its not just about the income! – better understanding of indexation, joint life or single life, what guaranteed period works best for clients – the effects of taking income monthly, quarterly, annually; in advance v arrears
Investment linked alternatives
· What are the alternatives to guaranteed annuities: Unit linked, with-profits or structured investment vehicles
· Who should consider an investment linked annuity>
· Drawdown the pros and cons
· Understanding the GAD rate calculation
This module will provide you with 10 points towards graduating the Academy if you are a member. The Academy points are only gained upon completion of an exit exam.
This course will also go towards structured CPD if you are a member of the *Later Life Academy Academy or not, and a certificate will be sent to confirm this.
