Mortgage Business Expo Leeds Hailed a Triumph

23 April 2015

The first Mortgage Business Expo (MBE) to be held at Leeds Armouries on 22nd April has been hailed a huge success by exhibitors and visitors alike.

The Expo attracted a large number of high quality brokers and IFAs from much further afield than expected and the show stands were kept busy. Exhibitors reported that they had excellent footfall and made high numbers of new contacts. With a plenty of opportunities to network and engage with potential business partners, the Expo was seen as a genuine benefit to their businesses.

Mike Mikunda, from MBE commented: “We are extremely pleased that the Leeds Expo was so well received in its new location and wonderful venue. Business was brisk and the feedback from our exhibitors was very positive. We are truly delighted with the result and now look forward to another great event at the London Barbican on 7th October.”

Businesses that took stands at the Expo provided their feedback on the show:

Ríona Mulherin, Paradigm Mortgages: “We had a very busy day at the MBE today on the Paradigm stand. This year we are focusing a significant amount of resource on developing relationships with new firms who we feel will benefit considerably from both our mortgage and protection propositions, and the MBE presented a fantastic opportunity for us to do so in Leeds.”

Scott Marshall, Roma Finance: “As a first time exhibitor at MBE it was a fantastic show with lots of very good quality new contacts. It was a good location and venue and footfall was great.”

Richard Deacon, Masthaven Finance: “A new Expo so we were a little apprehensive, but our northern BDM reports it’s the best Expo he’s been to for new business enquiries and leads.”

Alistair Ewing, Blimey Loans: “We had a fantastic day in Leeds with over 40 new brokers on our stand. Definitely a worthwhile show for us and if they run it next year we’ll be back.”

Mercedez Binning, Alpha Bridging: “The show in Leeds was great. Met loads of new brokers from the Leeds area. It was really buzzing all day and we think it’s going to be very successful for our business.”

Adam Carnall, Age Partnership: “It’s been a great event to meet advisers and brokers and to make some fantastic new business connections.”

Harpal Singh, Broker Conveyancing: “We’ had a great day at MBE Leeds. Really pleased with the turnout. As always very good to engage with mortgage brokers to find out what their priorities and needs are. We had lots of interest and really pleased with how many brokers want to start using us.”

Rob Metcalf, Assurant Intermediary: “Overall we found Leeds MBE to be a warm, friendly and inviting environment. It’s been productive for us during the day. We met new and existing brokers for general insurance. Definitely worth attending and we would attend again.”

Paul Mansell, Blemain Group: “There was a good stream of brokers talking to us. New brokers and existing brokers as well.”

Sonny Gosai, Clever Lending: It’s been an excellent opportunity to network with introducing brokers and to educate them in the changing regulatory landscape for mortgages and secured loans.”

Anthony Stanley, Aldermore Bank: “Very busy show with lots of new brokers. People were really positive about the market at the moment, so it’s been good.”

Andrew Richardson, IFA Conveyancing: “The event’s been a huge success. An opportunity to meet up with existing clients and a fantastic opportunity to meet new contacts. There were huge numbers through the doors, especially in the morning.”

Nigel Bowers, Key Commercial Finance: “This is the first time we’ve done a show like this and it’s been really beneficial for us. Met lots of new customers and potential business contacts so we would do this again.”

There was also a seminar programme for which brokers, advisers and IFAs earned valuable Cll CPD points.

The Expo was supported by over 40 industry exhibitors including seven building societies, twelve specialist lenders, as well as retirement planning companies and industry bodies such as the FCA and the Equity Release Council.

The MBE is the longest established Expo, but this was their first event in Leeds.
