Buckinghamshire Building Society is delighted to be one of several local businesses who have been recognised as Community Investors by Heart of Bucks, the community foundation for Buckinghamshire.

“The funding and support of our corporate and business partners is essential in ensuring that real and sustained impact is made for local good causes, charities and not-for-profit organisations right across the county.” Henry Allmand, Chief Executive, Heart of Bucks, the community foundation for Buckinghamshire.

We have held our charitable foundation with Heart of Bucks since 2013. On an annual basis our members vote for the charity of their choice from a selection offered to them in their member AGM packs.

In April 2018 our members voted for us to make a donation to Medical Detection Dogs and a cheque for £7,000 was presented at the 2019 AGM. (picture attached) Medical Detection Dogs is a Milton Keynes charity that trains dogs to detect minute changes in an individual’s personal odour triggered by their complex and life threatening condition and alert them to an impending medical event.

In recent years we have also supported Macmillan Cancer Support and Rennie Grove Hospice. Since we started working with Heart of Bucks, we have donated almost £40,000 to charity, local causes and initiatives.

Many of our values naturally align to the pillars of corporate social responsibility. Our philosophy of "doing the right thing" means that our members are at the heart of everything we do. Community investment is one way that we can support initiatives in Buckinghamshire in addition to our regular financial or volunteering support in the local Chalfont St Giles community.
