Buckinghamshire Building Society staff ditch secret santa and donate to Wycombe Homeless Connection

17 December 2019

For the third year running, the staff at Buckinghamshire Building Society have chosen to donate much-needed items to Wycombe Homeless Connection instead of giving each other Secret Santa gifts.

Three members of staff were delighted to be able to deliver the contribution in person last Friday, just before the charity closed collections for Christmas. As always, our employees were very generous with their donations.

“Everyone who works here firmly believes in our ethos of “doing the right thing”. Having seen the impact that the previous years’ donations made, staff were keen to contribute what they could.” said Amanda Arnold, Marketing Executive

As a mutual building society, it is essential that we continue to support local community initiatives in Buckinghamshire. We do this through staff volunteering, one-off donations and through our annual member charity vote. Every year a Buckinghamshire charity is selected to receive a donation from our charitable foundation at our AGM.

James Boultbee, CEO of Wycombe Homeless Connection, said “It’s wonderful to see local businesses get so creative about helping the most vulnerable in our community, those who are experiencing homelessness. Once again, Buckinghamshire Building Society’s team’s incredibly generous gift will help us provide vital emergency food parcels to those who otherwise might not have anything this Christmastime. We’re also getting ready to open our life-saving Winter Night Shelter in the new year where people who would otherwise be sleeping rough get a warm, welcoming place to stay and hot meals so support like this makes such a difference.”
